Bathroom installation Leeds
The existing bathroom was looking a bit dated and had a ceramic tiled floor and half tiled walls.
The existing shower enclosure was small (760mm x 760mm) and the new layout included plans for a much larger rectangular enclosure (1200mm x 800mm).
The walls were repaired (bonded up) once the existing tiles were removed.
The whole wet area was then tanked for a long lasting watertight installation.
Once the shower tray was installed (on a riser kit) the walls in the shower enclosure were then tiled with a large format ceramic tile (70x25cm).
The 2 different coloured tiles were fitted so that the wall profiles of the glass shower enclosure would conceal the ‘join’:
A shower enclosure consisting of a 1200mm sliding door and an 800mm return panel were fitted.
This enclosure is an entry level model that comes with a 5 year guarantee and readily available replacement door seals and runners for long term peace of mind.
After inspecting the customers existing hot water system during a free site survey, a thermostatic bar mixer shower valve was recommended & fitted.
As a result, the existing radiator was moved slightly and replaced with a tall chrome towel radiator.
The existing toilet was left in situ whilst some of the work was going on so that disruption was kept to a minimum during the work. We can always arrange for a toilet to be reinstated every night upon leaving if required.
A new toilet was fitted in the same location to keep fitting costs to a minimum.
A new acrylic bath was fitted in the same location to keep fitting costs to a minimum.
Here you can see the bath has been sat on top of the existing tiled floor.
This is because we laid new sheet vinyl flooring directly on top of the existing floor tiles.
We were able to do this because:
- the existing floor tiles were flat & firmly fixed.
- the customers kitchen below had recently been re-skimmed and it was feared that smashing the old floor tiles up may have caused cracking of the ceiling below.
- This approach guaranteed a watertight sub floor, making any leaks less likely to seep into the room below or rot the flooring.
- This approach was cheaper for the customer and took less time!
In the picture above you can see that we have built a wooden framework to support the bath and provide a fixing point for the solid bath panel.
The bath panels were then fitted.
A bath filler with a shower head attachment was fitted – perfect for those with small children.
